While traveling on business in the
Stockton area, I was pleasantly surprised to find a great Thai
restaurant within easy reach. I expect great Thai food when dining in
San Francisco, L.A., or Montreal, but Thai Spices was an unanticipated
treat. Great food, excellent service, and a winning ambience. The
proprietor, a very sweet person named Bun, gave me some suggestions and
each turned out to be superb: Highlights were the red curry with
bamboo shoots and thin slices of lightly cooked pumpkin, and the
amazing spring rolls, crispy and chock full of goodies,
light-as-could-be even though deep fried (how do they do that?!). Every
nuance of the meal was exceptional, and it was great watching Bun make
the rounds of each table to ensure that her guests were well taken care
of. My Sunday night dining experience was so good that I returned
Monday as well, and brought a client--he also did raves about the Thai
Tri-Tip we shared, and we were both mesmerized by the dessert combo of
homemade coconut ice cream and sticky black rice, washed down with a
frosty glass of Ironstone Vineyards 'Obsession' chardonnay. The wine
list, in fact, was downright comprehensive for a place this size, and
featured numerous local Lodi selections; best I tried was a Lange Twins
cabernet.Nice going, Thai Spices, I anticipate many additional fine
meals on future road trips!

Thai Spices is
such an enjoyable place to eat. The staff are promptand so very
helpful. We've been eating there about 6 months now and Icontinue to
find treasures on the menu. My current favorite is theSpicy Noodles
with chicken. They use the wide egg noodles which comeout sticky/chewy
and so so tasty. Get it HOT and wash it down with acold Thai iced tea.
By
far the best black sticky rice with coconutice cream I've eaten
ANYWHERE. For the un-initiated it might soundgross to eat warm rice for
dessert but this is something you must try.

I
found this place just by accident. Only open one month as of
July28,2007. What a pleasant surprise. The restaurant is nicely
decoratedand very clean. I was greeted by the owner who sat me at a
table andmade sure everything was good from the beginning of the meal
to theend. The food was excellent. As far as Thai food in the Lodi,
Stocktonarea this rates up there with the best of all of them.
Try it out and I'm sure you will be pleasantly surprised.

This
place is wonderful. I ordered the tri tip (perfection) The Spicy fried
rice (de-lish) and the red curry with chicken (to die for). Topped it all
off with the black rice and coconut ice cream... The wait
staff(especially the owner) was very attentive. I will go back
again plenty...
